TORONTO, Ontario—Newegg is offering its Canadian shoppers the ability to ship purchases to more than 6,000 Canada Post retail post offices. With an increasing number of consumers not home during the day to receive deliveries, one in five Canadian shoppers now prefer to have their items shipped directly to a post office, according to Canada Post research.

Newegg has partnered with Purolator International and Canada Post.

“We’ve been working with Newegg for more than eight years to help streamline parcel delivery in Canada,” said John Costanzo, president, Purolator International. “Our PuroPost solution is the engine that drives this significant step forward in terms of customer choice, and we’re pleased to team with Newegg on this initiative. As part of the Canada Post group of companies, Purolator International is uniquely positioned to leverage the full breadth and scope of the Canada Post delivery network and offer this new level of service to Newegg customers.”

During checkout, Newegg’s Canadian shoppers will now have the option to deliver to a post office. Customers simply enter the postal code of the desired delivery area, and a list of nearby shipping destinations is pulled from Canada Post’s network of more than 6,000 retail post offices across the country. Once the destination is chosen, the customer’s order is delivered and held for pick-up at no extra charge.

“Newegg is committed to meeting customers on their terms, and an important part of that commitment is offering innovative delivery options,” said Danny Lee, Newegg CEO. “This new ‘Deliver to Post Office’ option gives our Canadian customers the flexibility to pick up their shipments when and where it’s most convenient.”

Canada Post operates a network of retail post offices, some located in London Drugs, Shoppers Drug Mart and Sobeys. Shipping to these locations ensures the package is safe at the retail post office and offers easy access for Canadian consumers, 88 percent of whom live within 5km of a retail post office. Once a package is ready for pickup, an email is sent to the customer, who then has up to 15 days to pick up the package.

Adding the Deliver to Post Office option, which also provides customers with access to full tracking from initial pickup to delivery, is an added convenience for Newegg customers. Shipments that originate from the U.S. are pre-cleared for entry into Canada, with taxes and duties paid upfront (delivery duties paid or DDP) and guaranteed deliver-by dates.

Newegg’s new shipping option with Purolator International is an important part of the company’s effort to provide extensive order-delivery options to its customers. Newegg currently offers will-call order fulfillment at some of its distribution facilities in North America.
